Reflex Marine Wins Training Programme Of The Year

Reflex Marine are announced as winners at the Excellence In Business Training Awards.

Reflex Marine beat off some tough competition at this year's Excellence in Business Training Awards and were announced as winners of the Training Programme of the Year Award. This award was presented to the company who had best demonstrated their commitment to tackling the challenges of staff development.

The awards, which were hosted by Cornwall College Business, took place on Friday 25th of January at the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay. Over 150 local businesses from across the South West came together to celebrate the exceptional growth and success experienced as a result of training and developing staff.

The training programme was a bespoke leadership programme, established by Reflex Marine's CEO, Philip Strong in 2012. The purpose of the programme was to build strength from the company’s base, to prepare for a period of ambitious growth and to create a resilient organisation with strong values.  It planned to achieve this by developing a strong core team able to lead with vision, integrity and purpose.

The initiative was open to all employees and involved personal coaching sessions and practical modules to aid with personal development and the development of leadership skills. The course was run over four modules, three at the Lanyon Elizabethan estate near Hayle, Cornwall and one in Palamos, Spain.

The programme was run by Dr Siraj Bechich of the company Coach Sl. Based in Barcelona, Siraj is an experienced senior coach with seven years of coaching experience and has worked for both Performance Consultants International and the International Caching Federation.

The judging panel recognised the importance of putting staff at the heart of the business and giving everyone the opportunity to be leaders. They also admired the uniqueness of the programme for a small business as well as the significant growth in turnover the company has achieved as a result.

Reflex Marine achieved 9% total growth in the last financial year and the business is on track to achieve 27% growth in the current financial year. Reflex Marine’s Leadership programme has, without a doubt contributed to Reflex Marine’s success story and the company is looking for ways to build on this into the future.
