The Marine Transfer forum is being set up, as part of an industry initiative on Marine Transfer Safety, with the backing of organisations and companies, including Reflex Marine, that have shown leadership in this area.
The offshore oil and gas industry has long been aware that there is a shortfall in reliable and consistent marine personnel transfer data. When it comes to the systematic collation of activity levels and incident data we are a long way behind the aviation sector which is carefully monitored with supervision from international aviation associations and industry bodies such as the Oil and Gas Producers Association. The data that they collect allows operators to understand risks and make risk-based decisions about their logistical operations.
The Marine Transfer Forum is being set up, as part of an industry initiative on marine transfer safety, with the backing of organisations and companies, including Reflex Marine, that have shown leadership in this area. In the first instance it will aim to collate and share activity and incident data to increase awareness, benchmark activity and quantify risks (e.g. against aviation activity), whilst respecting contributor confidentiality. The first annual survey will run this year and the Forum aims to publish its first benchmarking report soon after. For more information please contact Robin Proctor.
