# UK ENERGY IN BRAZIL 2016 SHOWCASE

During the week-long [UK Energy in Brazil](http://www.ukenergyinbrazil.com.br/eng/index.asp) event in Rio de Janeiro, the Showcase was held at the Windsor Atlantica Hotel, Rio de Janeiro on 8th March 2016.**

During the plenary session we heard from the following key speakers:

- HM Ambassador - Alex Ellis
- Magda Chambriard – ANP (National Petroleum Agency)
- Jorge Camargo – IBP (Brazilian Oil and Gas Institute)
- Andre Araujo – Shell Brasil
- Marco Antonio Almeida – Oil and Gas Secretary at the Ministry of Mines and Energy

- Continued foreign investment and international collaboration
- Investing efficiently in research and development
- Safety and new projects
- New technology and the latest innovations for supporting work in the ultra-deep pre-salt areas in the Santos Basin, located in the South Atlantic Ocean

In the afternoon three simultaneous workshops took place with the participation of speakers from the British companies of that particular part of the energy sector. I presented on [Reflex Marine](http://www.reflexmarine.com/) and the importance of [safe personnel transfer](http://www.reflexmarine.com/industry-expertise/crew-transfer-safety/) in offshore operations. Attendees learnt about a risk based approach to personnel transfer, our existing [personnel transfer carriers,](http://www.reflexmarine.com/what-we-do/crane-transfer-devices/) including our Brazilian specification [FROG-6](http://www.reflexmarine.com/what-we-do/crane-transfer-devices/original-frog-range/frog-6-brasil/) certified by the "Directorate of Ports and Coasts" (DPC), and [WAVE-4](http://www.reflexmarine.com/what-we-do/crane-transfer-devices/wave-4/), our latest innovation for transferring passengers in the standing position.

[HAWK](http://www.reflexmarine.com/what-we-do/hawk-deck-motion-monitor/) was also introduced as one of our latest innovations. HAWK is a system which provides crane operators and vessel captains with real time wave heave and deck impact velocity measurements. This level of accurate data offers the potential to greatly increase the safe operating envelope for carrying out transfers (of either cargo or personnel).
